As with any surgical procedure, risks exist: temporary dry eye symptoms, halos, glare, or mild under-correction during the healing period. Serious complications are rare. Because SMILE eliminates the corneal flap entirely, flap-related complications — which account for a meaningful percentage of LASIK adverse events — are not possible with SMILE.
